ROLE GUIDE

Student manual

Check instructor-published class notices before you commute.

1. Register and sign in

  1. Choose Student on the public sign-in page, then Register if you do not have an account.
  2. Enter your name, unique registered email, School ID and a confirmed password of at least 12 characters. The length indicator measures length, not password strength.
  3. Wait for Admin approval. Registration alone does not grant section access.
  4. Sign in through the Student portal using your registered email or School ID, password and the displayed CAPTCHA. A different role's portal will refuse the login.

Pending, declined, suspended or removed accounts cannot use the workspace. Contact your administrator if your access needs review; registration does not approve itself.

2. Discover and follow sections

  1. Open Dashboard. Use the section-discovery search and available filters to find your class.
  2. Check its course, section, instructor and schedule, then request to join.
  3. Wait for the owning Instructor to approve your membership. A pending request does not grant protected details or history.
  4. After approval, open the section from your followed classes. Followed and discovery lists have independent filters and pagination.

The Sections management directory and other students' roster are not Student pages. An absent or removed class may no longer be accessible; ask the responsible Instructor or Admin rather than creating another account.

3. Read status, schedule and history

Open an approved section to see its schedule, room, Instructor and latest surviving status post. Status labels are Face-to-face, Asynchronous, Delayed and Cancelled; “No status yet” means no surviving publication, not cancellation. Read the note and any separate Expected class start date/time as well as the label. An update can be published tonight for a class tomorrow. The publication time shows when the Instructor posted it, not when class begins. A blank estimate means no start was supplied; it does not reuse an older estimate.

Use Status history and its date/status filters to review publications. Dates use the same local clock as the rest of the application. Removed posts are tombstones, not readable old announcements. Current status is provided by the Instructor, not predicted by the system; check again when planning your journey.

4. Notifications and reports

New status publications create in-app notifications for approved members. Read your own notification using its existing action; unread/read styling helps you distinguish them. These are not SMS or browser-push alerts. Student pages do not promise continuous live polling.

Open Reports for approved-section status history or My activity, set valid filters, then use print preview or PDF where available. Report scope and resource limits still apply. You cannot report another student's private activity.

5. Profile, password and logout

Use your account's Profile link for permitted name/email/password changes. An email must remain globally unique, including removed accounts. Changing a password requires the current password; recovery uses your registered email even if you normally sign in with School ID. Successful password recovery ends previous sessions and requires normal login.

Use the eye control to show or hide only its password field. Sign out using the navigation button on a shared device. Sessions may expire or be revoked. Shared demo users cannot change their identity/password or recover it, and cannot sign in when grading mode is off.

Help and evidence

Help provides the PRD, TRD and this guide. This describes reviewed source; the exact deployed revision and browser presentation require owner verification. It does not contain private account credentials. A final submission's illustrated manual still needs real screenshots, captions and workflow descriptions.
